How to Add Categories
Whenever you are going to publish a blog post, then you will get the option of category in the right side. By clicking on it, you have to choose the category in which you want to keep that blog post.
If you want to put your blog post in a new category, then you can add a new category by simply clicking on the link “Add New Category”.

For this, you see below the list of categories, you will show the link of add new category. After clicking on the link, you have to add a new category name. If you want to add parent category then do it, if not then directly click on Add New Category button.
Apart from this, you can also add new category from Direct Post >> Category option by going to WordPress admin dashboard. First you have to add new category name, after that you have to add category slug.
Remember, whenever you create a slug of a category, its url should be friendly for your post. You can use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens to create a category slug.
If you do not create a category slug, then WordPress will automatically create a slug name which will be based on your category name. Slug creates a link for your category page, in which all your blog post users will be received.
The blog post you have added to that category makes it easy for users to access all the posts that you have published in that category.

How to Create Child Category
Friends, since the categories are hierarchical, which means that many more sub-categories or child categories can be added within each category.
Child category is used when you are writing and publishing such a blog post. Which can come in more than one category or which is a broad topic, then you use these child category as a sub-topic.
For example, the topic of news in a news website can be very broad. That’s why the news website often divides the local, national, and international news into the right child categories within the news category.
If you want to create a child category, then for this you have to click on the option of Post >> Categories. After that you have to select a parent category under the category using the dropdown menu.
After that you have to enter the name of the child category, after that you have to add the description. If you want to create a slug for the child category, then you can, although it is optional.

How to Edit Categories

If you want to delete a category, then you can go to the option of Post >> Categories. If you are thinking that by deleting the category, your article should not be deleted.
So let us tell you that if you delete any parent or child category, then your articles posted under that parent and child category will not be deleted.

How to Display Your Categories

Then after that click on Tools >> Import option, then click on “Categories and Tags Converter”. After that you have to click on Run importer button.
After which a pop up window will open in front of you which will ask you to install importer, you just have to click on Run importer button.
Once the importer is installed in WordPress, after that you have to click on Activate plugin and run the importer. After that choose whatever conversion option you want.
