Government of Tamil Nadu. 750ml Amma Water Bottle is going to start and doubling its daily production. These small water bottles will be made of glass instead of plastic. Currently, around 80,000 one liter bottles costing Rs. Each is sold on a daily basis to bus passengers and others. Many people leave half to a full bottle without consuming water completely. Therefore, the government will introduce 750 ml Amma Water Bottle Scheme to reduce wastage.

The tenders are for setting up the necessary machines for the manufacture of 1 liter and 750 ml of packed drinking water in the 2.4 acre Gummipondi complex for the next 5 years. Previously installed machines were found to be defective and hence the production of Amma water bottle was affected. Now, older machines will be replaced with high-end drinking water treatment plants, bottling plants and testing laboratories.
This installation of new Amma water bottle machines will ensure that there is no compromise on cleanliness and for this Rs. 250 crores Rs. On improvement, the production unit will be able to produce at least 2 lakh one liter and 750 ml bottles. These glass water bottles are to be distributed to AC bus passengers at 310 recognized selling points and operated by the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC). The last date for submission of bids is 15 November 2019.
