Childhood and education

Shri Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. He was born in a local mosque to a boat owner and an imam Zainulbadin and his wife Aashiyamma. Kalam was the youngest of four brothers and a sister.
