Himachal Pradesh Panchavati Yojana – Green belt development scheme for rural senior citizens, parks and gardens will be developed for old people with MGNREGA link

Himachal Pradesh government has launched HP Panchavati Yojana as a green belt development scheme for elderly people. In this scheme, the government will develop parks and gardens in every development block with necessary facilities for senior citizens of rural areas. The work will be combined with the MNREGA scheme under the HP Panchavati scheme. The main objective is to provide elderly people the opportunity to spend time walking in parks and gardens.

मुख्यमंत्री जयराम ठाकुर सोमवार को प्रदेश में पंचवटी योजना का शुभारंभ कर रहे हैं। इस योजना के तहत प्रदेश की सभी 3226 पंचायातों में बुजुर्गों को एक स्थान पर बैठने और टहलने की व्यवस्था के लिए पार्क का निर्माण किया जाएगा। पहले चरण में प्रदेश के बीस ब्लॉकों में यह योजना शुरू होगी।

Parks and gardens will be developed on a flat land of at least one bigha with convergence of MNREGA, Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) and 14th Finance Commission. This scheme will increase the life expectancy of elderly people keeping in mind the health needs of senior citizens.

HP Panchavati Scheme Phase 1 – Green Belt Development Plan

In the current financial year, around 100 parks will be developed in different parts of the state under the HP Green Belt Development Scheme. HP Panchavati Yojana Phase 1 has been launched on 8 June 2020 through video conferencing.

Block / district selected for park and garden development

In the first phase, parks and gardens will be developed in the following areas in the state of Himachal Pradesh: –

  •     Gohar Development Block in Mandi District.
  •     Banga Development Block in Una District.
  •     Banjar and Naggar development block in Kullu district.
  •     Kaja development block in Lahaul-Spiti district.
  •     Nagrota Bagwan and Reconciliation Development Block in Kangra District.
  •     Paonta Sahib and Pakhtar development blocks in Sirmaur district.
  •     Tissa and Bhatiyat development block in Chamba district.
  •     Kalpa Development Block in Kinnaur District.
  •     Kandaghat Development Block of Solan District.
  •     Rohru Development Block in Shimla District.
  •     Badaun Development Block in Hamirpur District.

CM mentioned that the park will prove to be a boon for senior citizens to lead healthy and happy life after taking health benefits from these parks. Also, HP State Govt. Was working hard to provide maximum facilities to the people of the state, especially senior citizens and the Panchavati scheme is a major step in this direction.

The spread of the Kovid-19 epidemic has forced policy makers to rethink and reform the government’s policies and programs with a particular focus on rural development.
