The central government will launch the PM e-Vidya Yojana Student Registration Form 2020 on eVidya online education portal for digital learning. Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman announced on 17 May 2020 as part of the COVID-19 economic package of 20 lakh crore for this new PM E Vidya program. Online Digital Learning Education Program COVID-19

After COVID-19, Central Govt. Is going to focus on technology driven education system with equity. For this purpose, the following measures will be introduced for online digital learning education programs: –

  • PM eVIDYA scheme – a program for multi-mode access for digital / online education to be launched immediately. This PM e-learning scheme will include the following measures: –
    • One Nation One Digital Platform – DIKSHA for schooling in States / UTs. E-content and QR coded energetic textbooks for all grades.
    • One Class One Channel Program – One TV channel per class from class 1 to 12th.
    • Extensive use of radio, community radio and podcasts.
    • Special e-content for visually impaired and hearing impaired people.
    • The top 100 universities will be allowed to automatically start online courses by 30 May 2020. Variations include IITs, IIMs, Eminent Institutions and National Institutes.
  • Psychotherapy Scheme – This is an initiative for psycho-social support of students, teachers and families for mental health and emotional well-being.
  • New national curricula and educational structures for schools, early childhood and teachers will be launched. It will be global and integrated with 21st century skills requirements.
  • The National Foundation for Literacy and Numeris mission will be launched by December 2020 to ensure that every child achieves learning levels and outcomes in Grade 5 by 2025.

Online education for students during coronavirus lockdown

Below is the list of various technology driven systems for online education during coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown: –

  • 12 more SWAYAM PRABHA DTH channels – To support and reach those who do not have access to internet, the government started 3 SWAYAM PRABHA DTH channels for school education. Now another 12 SWAYAM PRABHA DTH channels (1 for each category) will be added.
  • Live interactive session via Skype – Govt. Through Skype, there is a provision of broadcasting live interactive sessions on these channels with experts from home.
  • Educational content on TV – Govt. In order to expand the reach of these channels, agreements were made with private DTH operators like Tata Sky and Airtel to broadcast educational video content. Central Government. Coordinated with the states of India to share air time (4 hours daily) on SWAYAM PRABHA channels to broadcast their education related content.
  • Diksha Portal – So far, the DIKSHA platform on diksha.gov.in has been hit 61 million since 24 March 2020.
  • More than 200 new textbooks were added to the e-school program.

e Swayam Prabha Program – 32 DTH Channels for Educational Content

E Swayambhu Prabha is the free-to-air education channel of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, a group of 32 DTH channels which is educational content. The channel teaches subjects such as arts, science, commerce, performing arts, social sciences and humanities, engineering, technology, medicine and agriculture.

All 32 Swayambhu Prabha channels provide users with six hours of pre-recorded content on four different topics per day. It also allows students to clear their doubts by calling a dedicated helpline.

What is PM E Vidya?

It is digital learning initiative for the students which is recently announced by Finance Minister.

How to start learning online through this program?

Very soon, the concerned department is going to release the guidelines. It is expected that a dedicated portal/mobile app will be launched where students will be able to register and then continue online study.
