Shreyas Yojana 2023 (SHREYAS) – Free skill development training scheme to give jobs to students
The Central Government has launched the Shreyas Yojana (SHREYAS) for higher education in skill development and apprenticeship of youth. Under the Shreyas scheme, the government will provide youth with opportunities for skill development and apprenticeship linked to industries and enable them to get employment and contribute to the progress of the country. This opportunity will be applicable to all general graduates coming out in April 2019 through the National Apprenticeship Promotional Scheme – NAPS.
The main objective of the Scheme for Higher Education Youth in Apprenticeship and Skills (SHREYAS) scheme is to provide a scholarship to Indian youth as well as to increase employment opportunities. Its main goal is to make students who have degrees more efficient, competent, entrepreneurs.
The SHREYAS Scheme program is mainly for the students pursuing degrees, mainly to educate the students studying in non-technical fields all the things related to employment and help them to become entrepreneurs.
SHREYAS Scheme 2024 – Main objectives
- To improve employability of students by linking employment related things in the learning process of higher education system.
- To make connections between the education and industry / service sectors on a permanent basis, making it easier for students to get jobs.
- Along with imparting skills to the students, giving stipend, so that they can earn money along with skill development.
- Helping to provide good quality workers for industry and trade.
- Connecting students with Central Government employment generation programs.
The SHREYAS Scheme program has been initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Ministry of Labor and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. This will be done through the introduction of B.A / B.Sc / B.Com courses in National Apprenticeship Promotional Scheme – NAPS, National Career Service – NCS and higher educational institutions. Sector Skill Council (SSCs) will implement the Shreyas Scheme 2019. The scheme will cover Banking Finance Insurance Services (BFSI), Retail, Health Care, Telecom, Logistics, Media, Management Services, ITeS and Apparel sectors.
Shreyas Plan Implementation – Track
The SHREYAS program will have 3 tracks added together:
- First Track – Add-on Apprenticeship
- Second Track – Embedded Apprenticeship
- Third Track – linking National Career Services with colleges
More than 100 sectors have already been added by SSC, where apprenticeship opportunities are being provided. The SSC (Sector Skill Council) with the help of its placement cell will identify the industries where students will get apprenticeship opportunities along with the respective colleges.
