Safe Maternity Immigration Suman Yojana 2023- free health check up and medicines for pregnant women, newborns
The central government has launched the Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan – SUMAN scheme on Thursday, 10 October 2019 to reduce the mortality rate of mother and newborn. Under the Suman Yojana 2019 (Central Govt. SUMAN Scheme) pregnant women, mothers will get free healthcare facilities after 6 months of delivery and free healthcare benefits to sick newborns. With this government scheme, the Modi government believes that it will reduce the maternal and child mortality rate in the country.
Under the Safe Maternity Immigration Scheme (2023), beneficiary women will be eligible to avail the service by visiting the Health Scheme for Pregnant Women. It also includes checking of vitamins, iron and calcium in the woman’s body along with regular labor checkups.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that checkups, iron folic acid supplements, tetanus diphtheria injections and other components of the comprehensive ANC package and at-home infant check-ups have been included under the Prime Minister’s Safety Campaign.
Secure Maternity Immigration Scheme 2024- Facilities
In the PM Suman Yojana, the following facilities and benefits will be given by the Central Government (Benefits and Facilities provided under PM SUMAN Scheme), whose list you can see below:
- In the PM SUMAN Scheme, there will be no need to give any kind of money to the pregnant woman for getting her tested.
- Transport facility to go from home to health center will also be provided free of cost under the Pradhan Mantri Suman Yojana 2019.
- In case of any critical or emergency, health care will be provided within one hour.
- After this, after getting discharged from the hospital, free vehicle will also be provided by the government to reach home. Apart from this, the woman will have to spend at least 48 hours in the hospital. So that health can be properly checked during delivery.
- The Pradhan Mantri SUMAN Scheme includes a checkup as well as iron folic acid supplementation, tetanus diphtheria injection and comprehensive ANC package.
Health Minister Harsh Vardhan also said that pregnant women will not have to face any kind of problem with this scheme as they had to do in earlier times. The Central Government has also ensured that the safe care of the child as well as the child gets complete nutrition in the safe maternity immigration home scheme 2019.
According to government data, India’s maternal mortality rate was 254 from 1,000 in 2004-06, which has come down to 130 in 2014-16. Between 2001 and 2016 the infant mortality rate was 66 which has reduced even more now to 34 per 1,000 births and the main objective of the government is to bring it down to zero mortality.
