At the 19th meeting of the Haryana Building and Other Construction Works Welfare Board held in Gurugram, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Dushyant Chautala announced the “Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shramik Awagaman Yojana” for the welfare of construction workers, in the presence of board members, Haryana Minister . Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Mr. Om Prakash Yadav, Minister of State for Labor and Employment Mr. Anoop Dhanak, Principal Secretary of Labor Department Mr. Vineet Garg and Labor Commissioner Mr. Vijay Singh Dahiya. Under this scheme, the government is going to provide construction workers free travel facilities to the residents of their workplace. Haryana government is going to provide free bus passes to the beneficiaries. Beneficiaries can travel for free through Haryana Roadways without paying any amount.

Workers and contractors with whom they are working are also registered with the board. Only those workers who fulfill the above eligibility will get the benefit of this scheme. To register under this scheme, applicants must have a certificate, stating that the construction worker was working with them for 90 days. An elected public representative such as a sarpanch or block committee or zilla parishad or any public representative can certify and register a construction worker at non-registered sites.
