Prime Minister Minority Scholarship Scheme 2024 – 5 crore students will get pre, post matric scholarship

The central government has decided to start the Prime Minister Minority Scholarship Scheme 2019 keeping in mind the minorities. The Modi 2.0 government has started this PM Minority Scholarship Scheme to further educate the minority students. Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi announced this government scheme for the socio-economic development of the minority community in which five crore students will be given scholarships in the next five years. In which half the number of girl students will also be included.

After the 65th meeting of Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF), Naqvi said that the central government will work on the 3E mantra for girls belonging to minority communities such as education, employment, socio-economic-empowerment (3E Mantra – Education , Employment, Empowerment) to empower and enable the students of the minority class.

The Prime Minister Minority Scholarship Scheme 2019 will be made available to students in courses like pre-matriculation, post matriculation over the next five years. Minority girls who have left school in the middle will be linked to education and employment by reputed educational institutions through bridge course.

PM Madrasa Training (3E Mantra Education, Employment, Empowerment)

The Central Government will provide training to Madrasa teachers from higher educational institutions to encourage them to take education to mainstream Madrasas across the country through bridge courses so that Madrasas also have Hindi, like other educational institutions in the country. The subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Computer etc. can be taught. Modi government will start this work from next month.

Under the Prime Minister’s Public Development Program, the government is also planning to build residential schools on the lines of colleges, ITIs, polytechnics, gurukuls etc. For the children of minority areas who are unable to go to school due to economic-social conditions, an ‘increase-read’ awareness campaign will be launched. The main objective of this campaign will be to focus more on the education of girls.

Prime Minister’s Read-Grow Campaign 2023-23

Under the Prime Minister’s Padho-Bado Abhiyan 2023 (PM Padho-Badho Mission) in all remote areas where there is still socially and economically backwardness and people are not able to send or send their children to educational institutions, there But this Read-Grow Awareness Mission will be launched so that parents of children can be encouraged. Apart from this, the PM will also connect Madrasas with technical facilities under the Padho-Bado Mission so that technical education will not face any hindrance.

In addition to this PM Minority Read, Write and Grow Campaign (PM Padho-Badho Mission Alpsankhyak Scholarship Scheme) awareness, promotion campaign will be carried forward through cultural programs like street plays, short films etc. This will ensure that in the first phase, 60 minority-dominated districts of the country can be covered under this campaign. Modi 2.0 government in education campaign for financially weaker minority Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, Parsi youth administrative services of central and state governments like Banking, Staff Selection Commission – SSC, Railways Free coaching of (Railway) and other competitive examinations will also be made available.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate has to fulfil following eligibility conditions:

  • First, an applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • The candidate should belong to minority communities such as Buddhists, Christians, Jains, Muslims, Sikhs and Zoroastrians (Parsis).
  • The candidate should have obtained at least 50% marks in the previous examination.
  • The student must be regular in attendance as the criteria set by the board / university.
  • Thereafter, the candidate should be a permanent resident of the State / UT for which he / she is applying irrespective of the place of study.
  • A student can avail only one scholarship at a time from the overall minority scholarship provided by the Central / State Government.
  • In addition, minority scholarships are awarded only to two students from a family.

Qualification & Income limit

Pre-Matric Scholarship
  • An applicant should be studying in Class I to X.
  • The annual income of parents does not exceed Rs 2.00 lakh.
Post-Matric Scholarship
  • An applicant should be studying XI, XII, ITI’s,
    Politechnical, Vocational, UG, PG, PhD or
    MPhil. (except Professional & Technical courses at UG level)
  • The annual income of parents does not exceed Rs 2.00 lakh.
Merit-Cum-Mean Scholarship
  • An applicant should be studying in Professional or Technical
    courses recognised by the Central/State government.
  • The annual income of parents does not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakh.

Note: The selected candidates cannot take benefits of any other scheme for the same courses of study.

 

MOMA Scholarship Amount

The scholarship includes fees such as Admission, Tuition and Maintenance allowances. The courses wise amount of scholarship Per Annum (pa) is given below.

After selection, the scholarship amount is automatically credited to the candidate’s bank account by direct benefit transfer (DBT). In addition, scholarship maintenance allowances are deposited monthly for a 10-month academic year.

Application Form: How to Apply

Currently, the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is the implementing body of this scholarship on behalf of the Ministry of Minorities. So, it is mandatory for all the students to apply online from the official website of NSP, www.scholarships.gov.in/.

How to Apply

Step 1: Student Registration

  • Firstly, candidates required to Register themselves on the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.
  • After registration, the system will generate Application Id and Password that will send to an entered phone number.

Step 2: Login / Enter Your details

  • After then, login with the provided Application Id and Password where you have to enter your basic details.
  • After then, upload necessary documents such as Income certificate, educational documents etc.

Step 3: Submit Application

  • Thereupon, your profile is ready to apply for scholarships available on the National Scholarship portal.
  • Finally, hit the “Apply” button corresponding to the available minority scholarships.

Step 4: Print out your Application

  • At last, print your application form for future reference.

Note: The registration form is required to be filled by parents/ guardian of students who are below the age of 18 years on the date of registration. Before applying online candidate must ensure their eligibility.

  • Bonafide certificate from Institute/ School, If Institute/ Schools is outside from domicile state of the student.

Selection Procedure

Selection

  • Firstly, the selection is made on the basis of the annual income of parents/guardian of the applicant. More the poor more the chances to get a scholarship.
  • Moreover, if the same income is found the selection is made on the basis of “Date of Birth” of the applicant. (Senior preferred most)

Duration of Scholarship

The scholarship will be provided for the entire course. But after an academic year candidate has to renew the scholarship for next year.

Renewal Process

There are no eligibility basis criteria for the renewal process. For renewal, the candidate must fulfill the following conditions.

  • First of all, students have to score 50% marks in the previous examinations in the same institute in the same course.
  • After that, the candidate has to produce an income certificate every year to avail the scholarship.

Cancellation of Scholarship

  • In the case, a student was found to be in violation of the scholarship terms and conditions.
  • Similarly, if the student leaves school or course in the middle of the academic year.
  • If a candidate is found to be in violation of a school pupil or is suspended from school.
  • If incorrect information is given while applying for the scholarship.
  • In those circumstances, the full payment amount of the scholarship will be recovered by the authority.

In the following conditions, the State/UT’s Governments may suspend or cancel the awards of scholarships.
