The PM Ghar Tak Fiber Scheme 2020 has been launched by the Central Government. The Common Service Center (CSC), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has undertaken the laying of optical fiber networks for India. Progress under BharatNet Phase 1
The operation and maintenance of optical fiber network scheduled under BharatNet Phase I was allocated to CSC in July 2019. In January 2020, FTTH connectivity was also added to 5 government institutions. However, CSC VLEs achieved excellent production in Phase-1. This includes 5889 gram panchayats with 20,000 rural households and government institutions with more than 45,000 customers with access to broadband internet.
