The Central Government is going to launch “Mission Solar Charkha 2020” for employment generation of women. Subsequently, the government is going to introduce the employment generation scheme in Beed district of Maharashtra to create 1100 jobs in every panchayat. This scheme will create around 5 crore jobs across the country. In addition, the Charkha scheme will help promote Khadi and boost India’s glory in the field of Khadi.
Unemployment is a frightening situation especially in rural areas. The village artisans are poor and are in dire need of help. To deal with this issue, central and concerned state officials have taken various steps. The latest employment generation venture started by the Central Government is called “Solar Charkha Mission Yojana MSME”. Under this scheme, the villagers will receive training and will be able to earn better livelihoods by producing clothes. The uniqueness of this project lies in the fact that these looms and spindles will be entirely powered by solar energy.
Solar Charkha Mission Yojana
The Central Government has published the official invitation. Anyone interested in starting their own solar spinning cloth manufacturing unit, by installing solar powered looms, needs to apply to the concerned authority. Necessary materials and help will be offered at low rates under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Program or PMEGP. 500 crores is the current budget of this scheme. Along with imparting training to the applicants, money will be provided to provide the machine. The MSME department is expecting an additional investment of Rs 10,000 crore in the micro business sector.
Features of Solar Charkha Yojana
The following are the features of Solar Charkha Scheme.
- Women Development – The government will emphasize women empowerment and business through this scheme. About 80 lakh women candidates will undergo training to join this field. Apart from this, 5 crore women candidates will also get employment.
- More employment generation – This scheme is fully geared to increase employment opportunities in villages. According to estimates, it will offer more than 10 lakh jobs in the region.
- Duration of the plan – To analyze the overall impact of the scheme, the Central Government will implement this program initially for two years. It will officially end in 2020.
- Linking voluntary organizations – Voluntary organizations play an important role in professional development of people in villages. Thus, these groups will also be planted to help in the implementation of the Solar Charkha Mission.
- Artisan cluster construction – In rural areas, the central government will emphasize on cluster construction. Only craftsmen will be able to join these special groups. So far 50 different clusters have been formed.
- Size of each cluster – Each group will have 400 to 2000 artisans to ensure that the work progresses smoothly.
- Subsidy offer – In an effort to promote the scheme, the Central Authority has allocated Rs 550 crore as subsidy.
Eligibility for Solar Charkha Mission
To avail the Solar Charkha Scheme, the following eligibility is required.
- For small scale businesses – only those applicants who are interested in running small scale manufacturing units will be allowed to enroll under the scheme. Large-scale organizations have been abandoned.
- Must have MSME certificate – All business owners should be registered with the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Without this certificate, applicants will not receive benefits.
