The University Grants Commission (UGC) is the premier statutory body of the Government of India functioning under the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development). It is established with the objective of coordinating, determining and maintaining the standards of higher education in India. It is an authority that accredits universities in India and also grants them funds. In addition, the college also offers scholarship schemes for students pursuing education.

The National Level Council for Technical Education Council AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) functions as a non-constitutional body under the MHRD. Operated since 1945, AICTE provides a unique opportunity for technical and management education systems in India. Apart from sanctioning graduation and post graduation programs under special sections, AICTE also offers several scholarships for students. The main objective of the scholarship scheme is to ensure that financial constraints do not obstruct the professional career of any student.

National Scholarship Portal – How to fill application form for scholarship?

When will the scholarship mentioned above, what benefits will the students get? To answer all these questions, a student has to register on the National Scholarship Portal. In this article, the process of scholarship application has been given step by step, please see, understand and follow all the steps here.

Step 1: Students first have to register on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP):

  • If you have come to this portal for the first time then the student will have to register, for this they will have to go to the home page of the National Scholarship Portal.
  • Now click on ‘Registration’.
  • A page of registration guidelines will open, read them carefully.
  • Click continue to proceed.
  • Fill all the required details and click on the ‘Register’ button.
  • The student application ID and password will be received on the registered mobile number that the student has entered during registration.

Step 2: Log on to the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) with the help of the ID and password received.

Click on the ‘Login’ button to fill the scholarship application form and enter the ID, password received

Step 3: Change Password (a mandatory step)

  • On successful login, the student will get an OTP on the registered mobile number.
  • Complete the verification process with OTP.
  • You will be directed to change the password.
  • Change the password and click on the Continue button.

Step 4: Entering Dashboard

  • Upon changing the password the student will be directed to the ‘Applications Dashboard’ page.
  • Click on the application form to fill the form.
  • Fill all the details like registration, education, personal and basic.
  • Now click on Save and Continue.
  • Fill in the details like your address, name of the scheme and upload the required documents as well.
  • Click on ‘Save As Draft’ (Students must check once they have entered all the correct information).
  • After checking, click on the ‘Final Submit’ button.

Note: The application form cannot be edited once the final has been submitted. Therefore, while clicking on the final submit, students are advised to check the form thoroughly once.

The Government of India has also launched NSP’s mobile app in the year 2018 keeping in mind the new technology, it has made it easy and convenient for students to fill the application form. Students can download and install the ‘National Scholarship Portal Mobile App’ by going to the Google Play Store through a mobile phone. In addition, the NSP app is available in the ‘UMANG’ (Umang) app already launched by the government.
