Recruitment of Skilled / Unskilled Employees at Maha Job Portal – 80% Jobs to Maharashtra Locals

The Maharashtra government will launch a new Maha Jobs portal to provide employment opportunities to the local people. This job portal will facilitate 80% of the jobs for “son of soil” or occupant. Now the government is starting this Maha Job Portal to recruit skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled employees. Both industry units and job seekers can register on the portal.

MIDC recently conducted a Human Resource Survey 2020 after the relaxation of the COVID-19 lockdown norms in Maharashtra to reopen 65,000 industrial units. Out of these 65,000 units, around 3,300 units have responded. These industrial units have indicated a need for around 50,000 employees. Of these, 70% are skilled and semi-skilled while 30% are unskilled. Those industrial units located in MIDC industrial estates as well as outsiders can register themselves on this Maha Jobs portal for recruitment.

CM Uddhav Thackeray and the Ministry of Industry have signed 12 MoUs with an intention to invest Rs. 16,000 crores Rs. State government. Maharashtra hopes that industries in the state will provide 80% employment to the local people. The Maharashtra government proposed to introduce a bill in the state legislature on the lines of Andhra Pradesh for reservation of 80% of jobs to the local people.

The Maha Jobs portal is an initiative to fulfill the pre-survey promise given by the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress for 80% of jobs for local people. Accordingly, it was included in the General Minimum Program of the Maha Vikas Agari (MVA) government in the state.
