Physical Requirements

Age
- The age of the candidate should be between 21 years to 30 years.
- There is an age relaxation of 3 years for OBC category candidates.
- Candidates who belong to SC and ST category are given 5 years relaxation in age limit.
Male Candidates
- Height– Height of general category candidate should be 165 cms. – The height of the OBC category and SC category candidates should be 160 cms.
- Chest Measurement– The chest of the candidate should be 84 cms.
- Eyesight– All candidates should have 6/6 and 6/9 eyesight. – If a candidate has weak eyesight then his/her light should be 6/12 or 6/9.
Women Candidates
- Height– Height of general category candidates should be 150 cms. The height of the candidates belonging to SC and OBC category should be 145 cms.
- Chest Measurement– The chest measurement of the candidate should be 79 cms.
- Eyesight– The eyesight of the candidate should be 6/6 or 6/9. If the eyes of the candidate are weak then it is necessary to have 6/12 or 6/9 light.
IPS officer – Exams
To become an IPS officer, first let us tell you that for this the candidate has to pass the UPSC exam. If a candidate fails in UPSC exam then he cannot become an IPS officer. For this, there are various examinations of the candidate, whose information is given below-
Preliminary Exam
This exam is a preliminary stage exam in which multiple choice questions will be asked from all the candidates. Let us also tell you that in this exam, candidates have to do two papers and it is very mandatory for them to pass in both. Also, for your information, let us also tell you that both these papers are of 200-200 marks. The candidates who clear this exam are then invited for the second stage exam mains.
Mains Exam
Those candidates are called in the mains exam who qualify the preliminary exam. Let us tell you here that this exam is a very difficult exam. Multiple choice questions are asked to the candidate in this exam. In this examination, 9 papers are made from the candidate, which is divided into two parts. First is qualifying paper and second is merit paper.
Qualifying Paper- In this paper the candidate has to attempt Paper-l and Paper-ll and 300-300 marks have been earmarked for each paper. Also note that this is only a qualifying paper whose marks will not add to the marks of the selection test.
Merit Paper- Under the merit paper, 7 papers are conducted from the candidate which are of 250-250 marks. Thus the full marks of this exam are 1750. If the candidate clears the qualifying paper and merit test then he/she is again called for interview.
Interview
This is the last step to become an IPS officer in which only those candidates are invited who clear both the above exams. The candidate’s interview lasts for 40-45 minutes and if the candidate passes in this interview, he is again sent for training to become an IPS officer and after the completion of training, he is appointed to the post of IPS. .
