What is an IAS officer?

IAS Officer Education Requirements
For those candidates who want to work for the post of IAS officer and want to sit in its selection test, then for that, let us tell you that some qualifications have been set for appearing in the UPSC exam, whose information is as follows-
- Candidate should have Graduation degree from a recognized university.
- The candidates who are in the final year of graduation can also appear in this exam.
Physical Requirements
- To become an IAS officer, it is necessary for any candidate to have the following qualifications-
Age
- Candidate age should be minimum 21 years and maximum age should be 32 years.
- There is a relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit for the OBC category candidates.
- SC and ST category candidates are given a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
- Candidates who are physically handicapped are given a relaxation of 10 years in the upper age limit.
IAS officer Exams
IAS officer is a very high post, that is why the examination on this post is also very difficult which is very difficult to pass. Every year lakhs of candidates take part in this exam but this exam is so difficult that only very few candidates can succeed in it. Following we are telling you the UPSC exam pattern which is mandatory to give to become an IAS-
IAS Prelims Exam
UPSC conducts two papers for the candidates under the Preliminary Examination. These papers are done within a day. Let us tell you here that in both these papers, multiple choice questions are asked from the candidate. This exam is a qualifying exam in a way and the candidates who qualify in this exam are called for further mains exam. For information, let us tell you that in this exam, objective type questions are asked from the candidate in both General Studies-l and General Studies-ll.
Apart from this, let us tell you that there are 100 questions in General Studies-l paper for which 200 marks have been kept. The duration of this paper has been kept 2 hours and if you answer any question wrong then your marks will also be deducted.
Similarly in General Studies-ll (CSAT-CSAT) also objective type questions are asked to the candidate and the number of all questions is 80 for which 200 marks are kept. The duration of the exam is also 2 hours and negative marking is also kept in it.
IAS Mains Exam
The UPSC IAS exam is one of the toughest exams in the country. Please note that only those candidates who clear the preliminary exam take part in this exam. Let us tell you here that in this examination nine papers are conducted by the candidates. Under this, questions are asked from the candidates on topics like General Studies, Society, Agriculture, Governance, English Language, Quality Constitution, International Relations, Economic Development etc. Let us tell you here that the duration of each paper is 3 hours and Paper A and Paper B are of 300-300 marks and apart from this all other papers are of 250-250. All the candidates who qualify in this exam are then called for interview.
IAS Interview
This is the last stage of the IAS exam. Only those candidates are called in this who clear the UPSC Mains exam. Let us tell you here that this is a kind of personality test of the candidate. Through this, the mental capacity of the candidate is judged and it is seen that how capable he is in taking personal decisions. Along with this the general knowledge of the candidate is also checked. 275 marks have been kept for the interview test. If the candidates also pass in this interview test, then they are appointed to the post of IAS officer.
