From January 2020, marriageable girls in Assam will get financial help from the Assam government for ‘one tola’ (10 grams) of gold, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said here on Wednesday.

The Minister said that the minimum age of the bride and groom to be 18 and 21 years to avail the benefit under the scheme. He hoped that this scheme would help in population control and also in empowering the women.
Assam Arundhati Gold Scheme 2020
The Assam Arundhati Gold Scheme has been announced by Finance Minister Mr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at the time of presenting the State Budget 2019 on 6 February 2019. Under the Assam Arundhati Gold Scheme, the state government will purchase a tola (10 grams) from 30000 to Rs. 38000 for each newly married bride of the Economic Weaker Section (EWS), whose parental annual income is up to Rs 5 lakh from all sources. Assam government will not give 10 grams of gold in physical form. Although the government will deposit Rs. 30,000 to 38000 in his bank account through direct bank transfer method.

Assam Brides Gold Scheme
Under the Assam Arundhati Brides Gold Scheme, the government will provide an estimated cost of 10 grams of gold to each bride of the state at Rs 38000 at the time of her wedding. The government has released Rs 300 crore to implement the Assam Arundhati Gold Scheme. Eligibility for Arundhati One Tola Gold Scheme
- You must be a native of the state.
- Your annual family income should be up to Rs 5 lakh.
- Marriages should be registered on or after January 1, 2020 in the Special Marriage (Assam) Rules, 1954.
- This should be the first marriage of a girl applying for this scheme
- The minimum age required for a bride is 18 years and for a bride is 21 years
- The minimum educational requirement is at least HSLC
- Educational qualification criteria will not be applicable to girls of tea garden communities and tribal communities

- Certificate issued by the Gaunabar / Maujdar of the village
- Marriage certificate

Apply the Arundhati Swarna Yojana online form
- The online application form is available on the official website of the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management.
- Open the website home page and go to the “Citizen” option
- Click on it and a drop-down list will appear
- Select “Apply online” option from the drop-down list
- Choose your preferred language to fill the form
- A new web page will appear with the form in your selected language
- Enter district, sub-registrar office, annual income of the family, applicant’s name, groom’s name, bride’s father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar card number, marriage registration and other details as asked on screen
- Now insert captcha code show in image
- Review the details and make sure that the information you entered is correct
- Take a print out of the filled application
- Click “Submit” option to submit the application.

- Applicant should apply for this scheme on the same date on which she applies for marriage registration
- Make a print out of the filled application form before submission
- After signing the declaration form at the Office of Marriage Registration Officer, do not forget to submit a printed copy of the form along with a copy of all the documents listed above.
- Approval or rejection of the application form will be given to you via SMS or email which you provide in the application
- If the application is accepted, the amount will be directly transferred to the bank account of the applicant, which you provide while submitting the form. So be careful while providing bank account details.

- Click on it and a drop-down list will appear
- Select the “refix document verification date” option
- Enter your application number
- Enter mobile number now

- Click on the “Submit” option and fix the date again.
