The Tamil Nadu government has now set COVID-19 treatment rates for private hospitals on 4 June 2020. The rates of treatment of coronovirus patients in private hospitals have now come under the Chief Minister’s Collective Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS). In this scheme, the private hospital designated COVID-19 was Rs. 5,000 per day for the general ward for the treatment of patients with no symptoms of mild or fatal infectious virus.
The stated COVID-19 treatment rate will be applicable in all Class A1, A2, A3 and A4 hospitals. It is clear that the beneficiaries are not required to pay anything to the hospitals and the government has also outlined the conditions for the hospitals. Under CMCHIS, the rate payable by the government to private hospitals for people availing COVID-19 treatment has been classified on the basis of criteria such as symptoms and facilities.

The COVID-19 treatment rate has been fixed for private hospitals, the maximum per diem rate for treatment in normal wards for asymptomatic people and Rs 5,000 for people with mild symptoms. For coronavirus treatment in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with all facilities, the following categories will apply: –
- A1 or A2 Hospital Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000
- A3 or A4 Hospital Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 13,500
Government of Tamil Nadu. Has issued a stern action against hospitals that charge more than the fixed rate. In addition, hospitals that charge more for patients will be removed from the list of approved hospitals under the Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases in India saw a record single-day jump of 9,304 cases on 5 June 2020, with a total tally of 2,16,919. While there are 1,06,737 active cases, 1,04,106 people have been recovered and one patient has escaped. With 260 new COVID-19 deaths, the fatalities climbed to 6,075.
