The Delhi government has revised the income norms for the poor window daughter and orphan girl marriage scheme 2020. The revised eligibility criteria is now applicable for financial assistance for marriage of poor widows and daughters of Orphan Girl Scheme in Delhi. The main objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance of Rs. 30,000 poor widows to marry their daughters. This marriage assistance amount will enable them to meet the expenses involved in the marriage of their daughters and orphan the girls for their marriage.
Now the state government will provide financial assistance for the marriage of orphan girls and daughters of poor widows, earning Rs. Till then. 1 lakh per year. As the income limit increases, more widows and orphaned girls can apply for financial assistance in the Delhi Marriage Assistance Scheme. Applications for this scheme should be submitted to the District Offices of Social Welfare and Women and Child Development before or after 60 days of marriage.
Eligibility Criteria for Marriage Assistance Scheme
All the applicants should follow the eligibility criteria for widow daughter marriage and marriage assistance scheme for orphan girls: –
- Applicant must be resident of National Capital Territory of Delhi at least 5 years before the date of application.
- The daughter should not be less than 18 years of age.
- The annual income of the applicant should not exceed Rs. 1 Lac.
Financial assistance for poor widow daughters and orphan girls scheme
First, whose annual income was Rs. Was up to 60,000 poor widows and daughters of the orphan girl scheme were eligible to apply under financial assistance for marriage. Now the income criteria has been revised, with an annual income of Rs. Till then. 1 lakh can avail under the Marriage Assistance Scheme in Delhi. The number of applicants receiving financial assistance under the scheme has increased since it was launched in the financial year 2006-07.
List of documents for financial assistance for marriage of poor widow daughters and orphan girl scheme
The following documents will be attached to the application: –
- A copy of ration card or voter ID card or any other document as proof of residence, which clearly shows at least 5 years of residence in Delhi.
- A copy of the girl’s birth certificate.
- A self-declaration by the applicant regarding his income.
- Death certificate of husband.
- Marriage invitation card or marriage certificate.
- Recommended by the MLA / MP of the area or the gazetted officer of the state / central government.
All documents to be submitted along with the application form for financial assistance for the marriage of poor widows and daughters of orphan girl should be verified. The government provides a one-time financial assistance of ₹ 30,000 under this scheme. Every year, around 3,000 widows and orphan girls apply for benefits. In addition, the Delhi government has already revised the income norm from Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 1 lakh for providing pension to women in distress.
