Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel has launched the Chief Minister’s Good Morning Campaign to tackle the menace of malnutrition and anemia. Under this, CG CM Subhashan Abhiyan, State Government. Will provide nutritious food to mothers and children. As a mark of the official launch of the campaign, CM has offered “Laddu” made of peanuts and jaggery to children. This campaign has been started on the full state level on 2 October 2019, the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Malnutrition is a challenge for the state of Chhattisgarh as well as the entire country. In the last 18 years, the per capita income in the state has increased but has become poorer and poorer and Chhattisgarh has about 37% malnourished people. CG Government On 15 June 2020, it was stated that the number of malnourished children decreased by 13.97%.
CG Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan 2020
- Nutritious food will be provided to children and mothers everyday. This CM Suposhan Abhiyan is for children between 0 to 5 years of age and girls and women between 15 and 49 years of age.
- CG Government Twice a week will provide extra nutrition of peanut eggs, jaggery and laddus. The primary objective is to curb malnutrition and anemia.
- The pilot project of Harik Nani Bera Abhiyan was already started in Bastar. Around 70,000 children and 9,000 mothers were getting nutritious food at various Anganwadi centers, which now extend across the state.
- The Department of Women and Child Welfare will implement Supan Abhiyan. Priority will be given to local nutritious food and government. Will distribute iron tablets and anthelmintic medicines.
- CG Government Free nutritious food will be provided daily to every beneficiary identified by each gram panchayat.
- DMF will be developed to provide fruits, milk, poultry, soybeans, laddus, bhaji and other alternative nutritious food to the beneficiaries.
- There will be participation from government and non-government charitable organizations. Anganwadi, schools and other distribution centers identified by the district administration will distribute nutritious food.
- The PDS system has been strengthened to provide rice, sugar, salt, gram and kerosene. There will be community consciousness and accountable administration.

There is a 13.79% decline in the number of total malnourished children in the state of Chhattisgarh. According to the data received from Vajn Tihar conducted in the year 2019, about 9.70 lakh children were suffering from malnutrition. By March 2020, approximately 67,889 children have become malnutrition, a decrease of about 13.79%. This is a major victory in the fight against malnutrition.
According to the National Family Survey 4, 37.7% of children under the age of 5 were suffering from malnutrition and 47% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 were suffering from anemia. According to the data, 9.7 lakh children were malnourished and most of them were children from tribal and remote forest areas.
Under this campaign, local free nutritious food and hot cooked food were distributed to malnourished women and children. Additionally, supplementary nutritious food is distributed to the identified children at the Anganwadi center. Iron, folic acid, antihelminate tablets are being given to the anemia affected people.
All Anganwadi and Mini Anganwadi centers have been closed for prevention and control of infection of COVID-19. In such a situation, to maintain the nutritional level of children and women, CM has ensured the distribution of ready nutritious food to about 28,78,000 beneficiaries of 51,455 Anganwadi centers in the state with the help of Anganwadi workers.
Under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme, arrangements have been made to distribute dry rations in place of cooked food to the beneficiaries. The goal of the scheme is to make Chhattisgarh malnutrition free in three years.
