The AP Auto Driver Scheme has been approved by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government on 5 September 2019. Under the YSR Auto Driver Scheme, the state government will provide Rs. 10,000 per year to each beneficiary. Vahana Mitra Scheme Second Phase
There is no work for auto, taxi and maxi cab drivers due to the lockdown. They are facing unemployment or shortage of cash. After considering the situation, the Andhra Pradesh government announced the Wahana Mitra schemes. Transport Minister Perani Nani said that the program will start on 4 June 2020, eligible persons of the state can apply for the scheme. Application forms are available in E-Service, Me-Service, CSC, MDO, Village and Ward Volunteers and the Office of the Municipal Commissioner. Village ward volunteers will have to submit the application form before 26 May 2020. Those applicants who had not applied for the scheme had to apply again.

Andhra Pradesh Taxi Driver Scheme 2020
AP Auto Driver Scheme application form is available in your Gram Panchayat / Municipality / Municipal Corporation Department. Also, the online application form of the scheme will now be accepted. Taxi and auto drivers who have their own public transport vehicle can apply for the scheme. Under the scheme, the Family of Drivers will be treated as one unit and each family unit will get financial assistance of Rs 10,000 annually. The Transport Commissioner and District Collector will serve as nodal officers under the AP Auto Driver Scheme.
Benefits of AP auto driver scheme
This scheme will provide financial assistance of ten thousand rupees to each beneficiary family. The amount will be transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account through the Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) method. Government of Andhra Pradesh has approved Rs 400 crore for successful implementation of the scheme. If a two-person in a particular family has a commercial 0r public vehicle, both of them will get financial support of the scheme.

The state government wants to empower commercial and public vehicle drivers so that they can afford the annual maintenance of the vehicle. This plan will definitely reduce the burden of financial expenditure of vehicles such as insurance, fitness certificates, repairs, and other requirements.
Features of Auto Taxi Cab Financial Assistance Scheme
- It is a 100 percent government funded scheme

- About 4 lakh people will be included as beneficiaries of the scheme.

Beneficiary’s field verification and selection process
After verification of AP Auto Driver Scheme application, the Regional Nodal Officer i.e. Commissioner in Urban areas and MPDO in Rural areas will forward the application form and documents to the Collector and upload the details of the applicant on the CFMS database portal. Now the last district collector will approve the beneficiary.
