Eligibility Criteria for MEXT Scholarship 2023
To qualify for the MEXT Scholarship 2023, a candidate must meet all of the following requirements:
- Required language: English
- Eligible Countries: All Countries of the World
- Applicants must hold the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
- An applicant who has Japanese nationality at the time of application is not eligible.
- For graduate students: You must be at least 17 and under 25 and have completed 12 years of schooling or completed courses at a school higher than high school (includes potential graduates)
- For Masters/PhD students: You must be under 35 years of age and a college graduate (includes potential graduates). Or you must have completed 16 years / 18 years of education.
- For Teacher Training Students: You must be below 35 years of age and must be a graduate from any college or teacher training college. You must have at least five years of active experience as a teacher in a primary, secondary or teacher training college in your country.
- For Japanese Studies students: Applicants must be between 18 to 30 years of age. Applicants must be enrolled as graduate students in faculties or schools that major in Japanese language or Japanese culture at a university outside Japan when they come to Japan and must be enrolled in a home institution when they return home are countries.

- If you are planning to apply for the MEXT scholarship, you need to visit the official website of the Japanese Embassy of your country.
- After visiting the official web portal, you will find MEXT Scholarship under Education/Scholarship section.
- Now, you have to download the scholarship application form and fill it.
- After filling the form, you will need to submit the required documents to the Japanese Embassy in your country.
- The written test round will be conducted by the Japanese Embassy.
- If you get selected in the written test then you need to appear in the interview.
