WhatsApp said on 06 November 2020 that it has started its payment services in India after getting permission from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). According to NPCI, WhatsApp can increase its UPI user base in a phased manner.

WhatsApp Pay service is available in 10 local languages of India and users can use any of these languages as per their convenience. This feature is available on both Android and iOS platforms. But for this, first you have to update your WhatsApp account. To avail this feature, it is necessary to have a UPI based debit card with users.

Talking about the features available in WhatsApp pay service, with the help of this feature, users can transfer up to one lakh rupees in a day. Using this feature, you can send money to any of your WhatsApp numbers anytime, anywhere.
Partnership with several banks
WhatsApp has partnered with ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, SBI and JIo Payments Bank for payment service. However, if you do not have an account with these banks, you will still be able to use WhatsApp payments. Like Google Pay and Phone Pay, WhatsApp Pay will also require a UPI PIN, so that you can make a secure payment.
