Karnataka Free Laptop Scheme Chief Minister Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy has been announced by the Government of Karnataka to encourage students to perform well in their board exams and apply for further studies. Under this scheme, the government of Karnataka state is going to distribute free laptops to the students who recently appeared for the 12th standard examination. The scheme is eligible for students belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes. The state government has spent about Rs 311 crore to buy laptops. This scheme is beneficial for about 36000 SC / ST students.
