The Uttar Pradesh government starts implementing the online process for High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) for vehicles. All owners of 2 wheeler or 4 wheeler which were manufactured before May 2019 can get HSRP number plate. These plates will be installed in UP this month by their respective automobile dealers. If a vehicle owner has moved from the city where someone bought the vehicle, then the person can go to any dealer of automobile brand in the new city. If there is no dealer in the present city, one can apply online for the High Security Registration Plate in the nearest district. Before applying online, the owner must ensure that no challan is pending against the vehicle and its registration is valid.

On the other hand, a dealer should verify the vehicle details from the vehicle portal of the state government. If the details do not match, the dealer will have to inform the vehicle owner via SMS. The owner has to visit the regional office and get the updated details. All vehicle owners who do not receive confirmation SMS from their dealers will have to get online fee, print receipt and appointment. The HSRP for a 4 wheeler is priced at around Rs. 500 and for a 2 wheeler approximately Rs. 200. No manual application will be accepted by dealers. Once the HSRP is fitted, dealers will have to update the details on the VAHAN portal.
