Modi Government Start Liberal Arts course at IIT

Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to study general and liberal arts subjects, on the lines of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) for education. The university is planning to set up (Liberal arts universities on par with IITs, IIMs). In these general and liberal arts institutions, education will be emphasized along with Multi-Disciplinary Research and Education under New Education Policy 2019.

Like the IITs, IIMs established by the Central Government, the University of Liberal Arts will attract students. Experts believe that this is a commendable step of the Modi government. Due to which this area will also be rejuvenated.

Liberal Arts course at IIT

At present, Liberal arts universities in the country are in private sector only, such as Azim Premji University, Ashoka University, OP Jindal University etc. There are multi-disciplinary courses and opportunities to change subjects are also given here. In order to establish public sector liberal arts institutes, the government will link existing institutions and restructuring them as well as new institutions will be established. With which an international model institute will be created across the country.

The Liberal Arts Universities, to be created by the government, will be defined as a large multi-disciplinary university with a wide range of opportunities for intensive specialization in one or more disciplines with a reshuffle of courses.

The new education policy also proposes that admission to all undergraduate courses of higher education institutions will be through examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), so that the inter-examinations developed by different institutes are interconnected. Collision problem can be eliminated.

Liberal arts universities will have almost all departments related to general and liberal arts subjects which are as follows:

Pure and applied science Sociology Economics and sports

Like the IITs and IIMs, according to this new education policy, national competitions like Olympiad, summer-focused subject-focused programs, sports events etc. have also been given special importance in the admission process. It will also be implemented in the admission process in other higher education institutions, especially IITs and NITs.

These universities, proposed for higher education in general arts disciplines, will be called Multidisciplinary Education and Research Universities (MERU) and the goal will be to make them level of the Ivy League universities of America. The highest standards for Liberal education across India will also be set.
