With increasing population and pollution, traffic in Delhi is increasing day by day. Traffic in Delhi is so high that about 2-3 hours of traffic is wasted for a normal destination. And also, people are using four wheelers just to cover the distance. Therefore, to eliminate these norms, Delhi government implemented the Aud-Even scheme in the year 2016. And now in 2019, this scheme has been implemented for the third time. Today, under this article, we will discuss with you all about the Delhi Odd Sum Scheme 2019-2020.

Delhi Odd-Even Scheme 2019

Delhi Odd-Even was implemented by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Shri Arvind Kejriwal in the year 2016. The scheme was launched to end traffic in Delhi. This scheme was first implemented in the year 2016 and has been achieving huge success since then. Under the plan, days were fixed for some vehicles. If your vehicle’s number plate ends with an odd number then some days were fixed and if it ends with an even number and the remaining days are fixed. All information about the plan was given to the residents of the city accordingly.

Odd and even Benefits of the scheme

The entire city was getting many benefits from the implementation of the Aud & Even scheme for the city of Delhi: –

  • First and foremost, the scheme helped the city of Delhi to eliminate traffic problems.
  • The plan helped the development of the city to an extent.
  • It also helped in the successful implementation of traffic rules.
  • Due to the constant fear of fine people following the rules.

Odd and even Plan launch date

Odd and even this scheme will be implemented in the city of Delhi for the third time because of increasing traffic. It is said that the scheme is ready to be implemented from 4 November 2019 to 15 November 2019. The scheme will be implemented only for 12 days as the city residents will get a bit of trouble from this scheme. As announced by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the scheme will be implemented only at the following times – starting at 8 am and ending at 8:00 pm.

Exempted from odd even scheme

The city of Delhi is a large city and many different types of people live in that city, for example, all the people associated with the residence of the President, Vice President and Government of India. So some exemption is given from the odd and included scheme and those who are exempted from the scheme are given in the list below: –

  • Speaker of Lok Sabha
  • Vehicles of union ministers
  • Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha Leaders of Opposition
  • Vehicles of Chief Ministers of States & UTs
  • Vehicles of Supreme Court Judges
  • UPSC Chairperson
  • Chief Election Commissioner
  • Election Commissioners
  • CAG
  • Dy Chairman Rajya Sabha
  • Dy Speaker of Lok Sabha
  • Lt Governor of Delhi
  • Judges of Delhi High Court
  • Lokayukta
  • Vehicles carrying school students
  • Women only vehicles

Two-wheelers like bikes, scooters should also be exempted from the Aud & Even scheme by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Aud & Even scheme is only for people driving four-wheelers on Delhi city roads.

Penalty in Delhi odd even scheme

As mentioned above if you do not follow odd and even traffic rules. Then you should be fined something. Talk of 2016, when the Audit and Even Scheme was originally started by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the fine amount was just Rs 2000. But now that the OD and EVEN scheme has been reintroduced in 2019, the penalty amount has been increased. From Rs. 2000 to 4000 Rupees. So, now if you are booked under any fee or you do not follow the aud and scheme, you will be charged Rs 4000.
