The Government of India has launched a campaign “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme 2024” to create awareness among Indian citizens to improve the efficiency of targeted welfare services for girls. The scheme has been launched by our Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22 January 2015 in Panipat, Haryana with an initial fund of Rs 100 crore. BBBP Scheme Details

Save Girls and Educate Girls (Gender Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana) has been launched to protect gender-based sex-selective eradication in various states of India. The main focus is on creating awareness and improving the efficiency of welfare services for women. The scheme is a joint initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Bank deposits and refunds on BBBP Scheme 2024

  • After depositing Rs 1000 in a bank account – Under this scheme, if you deposit Rs 1000 in the daughter’s bank account every month i.e. Rs 12000 per year, then in 14 years you will deposit a total amount of Rs 1, 68 000. Under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, after the maturity of the account, you will be provided Rs 6, 07, 128.
  • After depositing Rs. 1 .5 Lac per year in the bank account – 1.5 per annum in the daughter’s bank account. If you deposit 5 lakh rupees, then a total of 21 lakh rupees will be deposited in the 14-year-old daughter’s account. After the account is completed, you will be given 72 lakh rupees.

  •     The benefit of this scheme will be provided to every poor family in the country.
  •     Under this BBBP Scheme 2020, the government will provide financial assistance to daughters for their education and marriage.
  •     There will be a drop in feticide in the country through this scheme.
  •     Through this scheme, the link ratio will be stopped and girls will also be treated as equal.

This Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme has spread throughout the country and is giving benefits of BBBP scheme to the daughters of the country. This Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign is monitoring at block level, district level, state level respectively. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme does not provide direct benefit to the beneficiary of the scheme. This BBBP scheme provides opportunities in indirect ways.

Why Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme is needed?

This scheme is needed for the protection of the girl child. Ultrasound technology has made it possible to identify the sex of the baby of women early in pregnancy.This increases sex-selective abortions. The plan is needed to prevent this sex-selective abortion.

Financial help

  • 50 crore to test a scheme for the safety of women on public road transport by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. ,
  • 150 million rupees will be spent by the Ministry of Home Affairs to increase the safety of women in big cities.

Strategies

  • The main focus for intensive and concerted action is the gender critical district on CSR and less on cities.
  • To mobilize and train Panchayati Raj Institutions / Urban Local Bodies / Grassroots workers as catalysts for social change in partnership with local community / criminal / youth groups.
  • Continuous social movement and communication campaigns are conducted to create equal value for the girl child and to promote the education of the girl child.
