Mukhyamantri Kirayedaar Bijli Meter Yojana Chief Minister Renter Electricity Meter Scheme: –

After giving huge relief to the citizens of Delhi in electricity bills and water bills, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced the Chief Minister Renter Electricity Meter Scheme (CM Kirayedaar Bijli Meter Yojana) for the renters. This government scheme will benefit a large number of people who were unable to get electricity connection due to renting in flats or colonies.

Till now the people who lived on rent had to take NOC from the landlord to get the electricity meter installed, but after the introduction of this Chief Minister’s tenant electricity meter scheme, they can get their electricity meter installed and take advantage of electricity.

Under the Delhi Chief Minister Tenant Electricity Meter Scheme, the government will install prepaid meters for tenants. These new prepaid meters will be set up for domestic use only by the occupant. To avail the Chief Minister’s Electricity Subsidy Scheme for tenants, people will have to pay Rs 3,000 as security amount and Rs 3,000 for drawing line.

These prepaid electricity meters will reduce the electricity bills of the tenants as they have to pay more amount to the homeowners. The Aam Aadmi Party has also issued instructions in this regard to the power departments and has also given instructions to make prepaid meters available to those people.

Important documents for the Chief Minister’s tenant electricity meter scheme (CM Kirayedaar Bijli Meter Yojna): –

Tenants will be able to get a pre-paid meter by depositing a security amount of Rs 3,000. All you need to do is to submit a copy of Rent Agreement or Rent Agreement or Tenancy Receipt or Passport Size Photo, ID Proof, Address of Rental House and Residence Certificate of where they are staying.

How pre-paid meter is different from old meters: –

The pre-made meter, as the name suggests, requires you to pay before using the facility. Just like Dish TV has to be recharged first and then it gets the facility, the same will happen with pre-made meter. In a normal meter, first use electricity, then the bill comes, but in prepaid you have to recharge first and then use electricity.

Subsidy on pre-paid meter: –

Delhi government gives subsidy on electricity bill. If consumers consume less than 200 units of electricity, then the consumer will not be charged. Programming in meters in the Chief Minister’s tenant power meter scheme will be such that up to 200 units of electricity will be free and up to 400 units will be cut by half, meaning half the money.

How to get pre-paid meter: –

Consumers can get pre-paid meters by calling three different numbers issued. For this, some lines must be charged. After calling, the person himself will come and install the meter. Tenants can get meters sitting at home by calling these numbers:

  • BSES Yamuna Number: 19122
  • BSES Capital Number: 19123
  • Tata number: 19124

New rates announced by DERC: –

Electricity regulator Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has announced new electricity rates for 2019-20. According to which the rent of CM Electricity Meter Scheme has been reduced and the rates of electricity per unit have been increased. Therefore, all those consumers who are household category consumers will save up to Rs 750 / – in electricity bill.
